India dropped the star batter Mithali Raj for their Women's World Twenty20 semi-final against England in Antigua on this Thursday as captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to bat first. In a shock decision, Harmanpreet did not bring back all-time record T20 run-scorer Mithali, instead choosing to retain the same team which defeated Australia in the final group game in Guyana five days earlier. The decision to bench an in-form Mithali in the crucial encounter, which the Women in Blue lost by 8 wickets, refused to take backseat, with former captain's manager lashing out at current skipper.
Annisha Gupta called Harmanpreet a "manipulative, lying, immature, undeserving captain" and further went on to say that the women's team believed in "politics not sport".
"Unfortunately @BCCIWomen believes in politics not sport. After witnessing what @M_Raj03 's experience could do in IndvIre it's shocking that they went with what pleases @ImHarmanpreet -a manipulative, lying, immature, undeserving captain," Annisha's tweet read.
